What is profiling in the context of the GDPR?

Profiling consists of using personal data to evaluate certain aspects relating to a natural person. In particular to analyse or predict information concerning job performance, economic status, health, personal preferences, interests, reliability, behaviour or the location of the person.

Profiling makes it possible to make decisions about an individual, to analyse or to predict their behaviour, preferences or opinions. In this case, Article 22 of the GDPR gives the person in question the right to an intervention from the controller, to express their point of view, and to challenge the decision.
